I just wanted to send my highest thanks for all the tutelage I have received within the NAIOMT program. A patient came in with complaints of dizziness, facial tingling, disturbed vision/hearing and pain in her neck. She had history of a bad MVA approximately 25 years ago and her symptoms had persisted since the accident. During subjective history she mentioned that all of her previous physicians thought she was crazy. As I was performing the subjective examination, I thought her symptoms sounded like what Erl Pettman has described as “trigeminal symptoms.” It occurred to me she might have a C2/3 dysfunction that was contributing to trigeminal convergence creating these symptoms.

I asked her whether her vision seemed murky or like looking through a dirty window and she immediately started crying. She confirmed that was exactly how it felt and she has never been able to describe it to her doctors sufficiently.

Long story short, after a careful screening, I utilized a focused cranial-directed (thrust) manipulation on C3 and her murky vision was completely abolished. She cried multiple times during the initial evaluation and she said she finally found someone who understands what she has. I treated her four times and just discharged her today. She has not complained of any dizziness, facial tingling, pain or disturbed vision/hearing!

I was never skeptical about the trigeminal symptoms diagnosis/treatment but I wanted to take the time and share that the NAIOMT system works! It has elevated my practice to levels I have never imagined. It is all because of the NAIOMT training. Thank you! I'm not the world's greatest PT, greatest manipulator, or greatest diagnostician, but I am learning and getting better.

NAIOMT is eclectic. It's based on evidence-based medicine. It utilizes multiple approaches. It's not based on the works of one person. NAIOMT has a mixture of symptom provocation and biomechanics without over-relying on either one.

I graduated with my DPT 2.5 years ago. I began the NAIOMT courses immediately after graduation; before I even sat for my boards exam! I just finished with the Level III courses in January, and I am working on case studies and preparing for the final practical at this time.

As an SPT I was lucky enough to have clinical experiences with COMTs all of different schools. Each one emphasised to me that my DPT was just the beginning and that in order to become an expert, additional training and knowledge were essential.

My NAIOMT training has been nothing short of exceptional (also exceptionally challenging) and has developed my differential diagnosis, clinical reasoning and treatment technique skills level immensely. NAIOMT has deepened my knowledge base and clinical decision making well beyond where a DPT takes a learner.

The DPT offers our profession and us as clinicians such a wonderful knowledge base and professional potential; but it is only the base. Coming out of PT school one is a generalist – NAIOMT develops specialists and experts in our field.

Just wanted to say thank you for your very informative class this past weekend. On my first day back, I had someone come in with exactly what we talked about with insidious onset tennis elbow. I did my exams and found that it was most certainly a facilitated C5 segment! The patient was blown away by that discovery.

Thank you again! I now have much greater tools to be able to more adequately diagnose my patients and get them on the real right track!

How has NAIOMT positively impacted your practice?
