Erl Pettman received his diploma in Physiotherapy from the Nottingham School of Physiotherapy (England) in 1972 and from the National Academy of Acupuncture in 1976. He has been an Examiner for the Canadian Manual Therapy Examinations since 1980 and Chief Examiner from 1982-2002. In addition to being a Senior Faculty with NAIOMT, he has been a certified manual therapy instructor for the Olaf Evenjth system since 1990.

His chapter on Upper Cervical Instability was published in Modern Manual Therapy, 2nd Ed 1992 and he has presented papers at IFOMT Proceedings in 1984, 1988 and 1992. Erl Pettman developed the integrated quadrant system of evaluation in 1980 - a three-month manual therapy course in Western Canada - and co-founded NAIOMT with David Lamb, Cliff Fowler and Jim Meadows in 1984. He is currently practicing in Abbotsford, BC, Canada, and is researching early intervention work conditioning.

Ann Porter Hoke received her Diploma in Physiotherapy from St. Thomas’ Hospital, London in 1971, her BScPT from the University of British Columbia in 1982 and a post professional doctorate from Pacific University, Oregon in 2008. She is a Fellow of both the Canadian and American Manual and Manipulation Academies and is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Specialist.

She trained and then worked with James Cyriax, MD in London, England from 1967-72, with manual therapists in Vancouver, BC from 1972-82 and is in clinical practice in SE Portland, OR at New Heights Physical Therapy Plus.

She has served on numerous national and international OMPT committees and has been involved in the development of the Description of Advanced Specialist Practice in OMPT and Educational Standards. Her awards include: Mercedes Weiss, from the Oregon PT Association (1996) and the John McM. Mennell Service Award from AAOMPT in 2006.

She is a distinguished faculty member, senior examiner, clinical fellowship director and clinical instructor with NAIOMT and has 37 years of teaching and 42 years of clinical experience. She teaches all levels of NAIOMT core and specialty classes in mobilization and manipulation and provides clinical mentoring primarily in Oregon and Washington.

Steve Allen is a graduate of the University of Southern California 1977 with a MS in Physical Therapy. Internships included attending the Kaiser Vallejo Rehab Program with Margaret Knott and Greg Johnson for intense instruction in Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation. Steve is the founder of Evergreen Physical Therapy in Spokane and currently serves as Clinic Director at Therapeutic Associates, Inc. in Liberty Lake, Washington. Steve received his Board Certification in Orthopedic Physical Therapy in 1986 and is a 1996 graduate of the North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy (NAIOMT) and currently serves on the board of directors for NAIOMT. Steve received his Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy in 1998.

Steve is available for part –time supervised clinical residency and mentorship and also serves as a clinical instructor and adjunct faculty for Eastern Washington University Physical Therapy Program. Special interests include his role as team physical therapist and trainer for a local girls high school basketball program, delegate in the House of Delegates, American Physical Therapy Association, and co-chair of the Manipulation Task Force, Physical Therapy Association of Washington State.

Valerie completed her Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy from Andrews University in 2006. She passed the Certified Manual Therapist (CMPT) exam awarded from the North American Institute of Manual Physical Therapy in 2005 with distinction and Orthopaedic Certified Specialist (OCS) exam awarded by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) in 2008. Valerie also passed the Certified Manual Manipulative Therapist (COMT) exam awarded from the North American Institute of Manual Physical Therapy in 2008, with distinction. Valerie became a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapist (FAAOMPT) in 2010.

Valerie resides in Valparaiso, Indiana with her husband of 18 years who is employed as the Dean of Student's in Attendance and Head Varsity Boy's Basketball Coach.  Valerie became the Director of the Post-Professional Program at Andrews University, as well as an Assistant Professor.  She is a NAIOMT core faculty member, examiner and clinical fellowship instructor.

Valerie enjoys spending time at sporting events, outdoor activities and church activities, with her husband, son and daughter.

Liz is the president of LifeForce Physical Therapy in Wilmington, NC where she specializes in temporomandibular and craniofacial dysfunction, golf injury rehabilitation and golf performance, and dance injury/rehabilitation. She is senior consulting therapist at the Carolina Ballet. In addition to being a member of the APTA, AAOMPT, she is also a member of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain.

Liz’s entry-level training in physical therapy was from the University of Vermont in 1981. She attended New York University for graduate studies in biomechanics and completed the Doctor of Science (DSc) in Physical Therapy at Andrews University in 2014. Liz underwent fellowship training with NAIOMT in 2011 and was accepted as a Fellow by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT). Liz has maintained Board Certification awarded by the American Physical therapy Association (APTA) in Orthopaedics since 1991. In 2016 she credentialed as Certified Cervical & Temporomandibular Therapist (CCTT) by the Physical Therapy Board of Craniofacial & Cervical Therapeutics (PTBCCT).

After earning his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Pacific University in Forest Grove in 2001, Chris completed a full-time mentorship/residency in Advanced Manual Physical Therapy through Kaiser Permanente in Hayward, CA in 2002. Chris starting his studies through NAIOMT in 2002 completing his COMT in 2006.

Chris became a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist in 2005 and completed his Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy in 2006. His Fellowship research revolved around studying the effect of clinical mentorship on the clinical outcomes in novice physical therapists. He is currently a faculty member with NAIOMT and heads the Research Committee along with providing technical advice for project design and editing of fellowship research projects.

In addition to his clinical duties he provides guest lectures on clinical reasoning, business and neurodynamics to Pacific University. He also co-developed courses through Therapeutic Associates, Inc (TAI) on pain neurophysiology, clinical reasoning, clinical research and treatment-based classification and treatment of acute low back pain.

Chris’s clinical emphasis is treating patients with a variety of complex musculoskeletal injuries, including the spine, extremities and TMJ/TMD. Chris is Director of Physical Therapy with Therapeutic Associates in Sherwood, OR, is the Assistant Director of the TAI Orthopaedic Clinical Residency Program and Director of the Research Division of the TAI Education Department.

Laura earned her Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Washington Seattle in 1998. She then earned her Masters of Physical Therapy in 2000 from Eastern Washington University.  She is currently completing her DSc from Andrews University.  She was recognized as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in 2005 and certified as a Certified Orthopaedic Manual Therapist (COMT) by NAIOMT in December 2005.  She was accepted as CFI for NAIOMT in 2006 and received her FAAOMPT in December of 2007.  She served as Adjunct Faculty for the University of Washington Seattle DPT department from 2007-2009.  She was also Adjunct Faculty for St. Francis University as a co-instructor in Italy in 2008.

Laura moved to Brussels, Belgium in 2007 where she established her own clinic in 2009.  She currently is full time director and physical therapist at LVW Physiotherapy. She continues to be active and teaching with NAIOMT both in the USA and Europe.  She encourages therapists to seek certifications within any of their current manual therapy programs as well as offering guidance to therapists outside of her clinic and organization.  She specializes in manual therapy for pediatric and adult sport and spine injuries. 

Kent Keyser received his BS in Physical Therapy from Cal State Northridge/UCLA in 1978, certification in Athletic Training in 1983, and a Masters Degree in Human Anatomy from the University of Oregon in 1987. He became OCS certified in 1995 and received his COMT in 1996. He is a graduate of the NAIOMT Residency Program, receiving his Fellow with the American Academy of Manual Physical Therapy in 1998.

Kent is also on faculty and has taught extensively with the Institute of Physical Art and is a Founding Fellow of CFMT. He is an instructor in the Department of Exercise Movement Science at the University of Oregon and adjunct professor of Physical Therapy at Touro College in Long Island, NY. He has taken numerous orthopaedic and sports medicine courses. He is a member of the Board of Directors of NAIOMT. Presently, Kent is providing outpatient care at his private practice in Eugene, OR.

Mr. Lucido is a 1985 graduate from of University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas with a bachelor’s of science degree in physical therapy and received his doctorate in physical therapy from A.T. Still’s University in Mesa, AZ in 2011. Michael has over 27 years of orthopedic physical therapy experience with clinical interest and specialization in spinal dysfunction. His early instructors in manual therapy were Robin McKenzie, Freddie Kaltenborn, Erl Pettman, Cliff Fowler and Jim Meadows.

Michael has taught post-professionally throughout the United States to physical therapist, occupational therapist and primary care physicians. Michael is board certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and has completed a fellowship in orthopedic manipulative physical therapy thru the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT). He is a member of the North American Spine Society and the National Association of Spine Specialist. His present teaching responsibilities are to the graduate school at Texas Woman’s University and NAIOMT. Michael is married and has three children and lives in Dallas, TX.

Terry received his MSPT from Andrews University in 1997 and his FAAOMPT in 2013 through the NAIOMT Fellowship Program. He is a Faculty, Clinical Fellowship Instructor and Examiner for NAIOMT. He teaches core NAIOMT courses primarily in the Northeast, and has presented specialty course for the Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire APTA sections and SIGs.

Terry has been adjunct faculty for The University of Maine System, Southern New Hampshire University and Medbridge Education. He has taught courses in Clinically Applied Anatomy and Kinesiology, Anatomy and Physiology and Bridging the Gap: Between Evidence Based Research and the Reality of the Clinic and most recently “A Collaborative Approach to Evaluation and Treatment of the Lumbar Spine. He developed teaching manuals for the McConnell Institute faculty, produced technique videos for NAIOMT, formatted and reviewed the textbook ‘Manipulative Thrust Techniques of the Spine’ by Erl Pettman, and the manual for distance mentoring for NAIOMT clinical fellowship instructors and fellows in training. Terry has written a section for a home study course for the Orthopedic Section of the APTA addressing treatment of the injured lumbar spine published in 2015.

Terry currently is the clinical director of Greater Brunswick Physical Therapy in Topsham, Maine. He has a keen interest in biomechanics, functional application of manual therapy, and prolotherapy. He regularly posts a blog entitled MSKMonday, emphasizing his current thoughts on application of research to clinical practice. Terry resides in Brunswick, Maine, where he enjoys spending time with his family and all outdoor activities that Maine offers.

Stacy Soappman, PT, DScPT, COMT, FAAOMPT received her physical therapy degree from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI in 2001 and went on to receive her DScPT degree from Andrews University in 2011. Stacy completed her fellowship training through The North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT) in 2011.

Stacy currently works in outpatient orthopedics in Denver, CO. She is faculty for NAIOMT and is also an adjunct professor at Andrews University in the Physical Therapy Department.

Stacy has had the opportunity to present locally as well as nationally on various OMT topics. One of her passions is to help restore the art to physical therapy. Physical Therapy is more than a series of treatment steps to follow. It is a beautifully choreographed dance that looks different with every person you encounter.

When she is not working you can find her doing yoga on a mountain somewhere or road biking. She also enjoys hiking with her 2 kids, husband, and 2 standard poodles.

Kathy Stupansky graduated from the University of Wisconsin (Madison) in 1981. She has been certified in advanced manual therapy techniques since 1993 and an instructor with North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT) since 1992. She is currently a Market Manager with Select Physical Therapy. She has lectured and taught several courses for NAIOMT and to various clinics and study groups.

Kathy participates on the NAIOMT Board of Directors and holds the position of Treasurer. She was accepted as a Fellow with the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists in 2001. Kathy received her Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy through Andrews University in December of 2007. She subsequently was asked to join Andrews University Associate Faculty, instructing through the online post-professional learning program.

She is extremely dedicated to Faith, Family and Friends. Leisure time is filled with walking, skiing, relaxing on a beach or at the pool, and watching a good movie every now and then.

Bill Temes received a Certificate in Physical Therapy from New York University and began practicing in 1974. He earned his Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California in 1979. He became a certified specialist in orthopedic physical therapy (OCS) by the American Physical Therapy Association in 1996 and became a Certified Orthopaedic Manual/Manipulative Therapist (COMT) in 1994. He is a graduate of the North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT) Fellowship Program and received his Fellowship with the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual therapy in 1998. He has studied and worked extensively in acute and chronic spinal pain and orthopedics.

Bill currently works with patients 3 days per week and also serves as the Director of the Supervised Clinical Mentorship Program for Therapeutic Associates. Bill teaches for and serves on the Board of Directors for NAIOMT. Bill places a high value on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and enjoys bike riding, hiking and skiing. Ask Bill about his two daughters, Amy and Lindsay, of whom he is very proud. Amy is also a physical therapist while Lindsay is a Captain in the US Air Force. Bill is married to his favorite girl, Kathy an occupational therapist.

Brett Windsor graduated as a physiotherapist from Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia in 1994. He became APTA board certified as an orthopedic clinical specialist (OCS) in 2000 and completed the NAIOMT manual therapy clinical fellowship in 2003, graduating to fellowship in the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Therapy (FAAOMPT) in 2004. Brett is the current CEO of NAIOMT and also holds the position of National Director of Clinical Excellence at ATI Physical Therapy based in Bolingbrook, IL.   

Brett has presented at numerous local, state, national and international programs in the area of musculoskeletal physical therapy and regularly lectures at accredited schools in the US. Brett is a past member of the Washington State Physical Therapy Licensing Board and holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Portland State University in Portland, OR. He is currently enrolled in the PhD program at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professionals where he is about to enter the dissertation phase. Brett serves on the APTA Residency and Fellowship Credentialing Services Council. Brett resides in St. Charles, IL with his wife Susan.

Dr. Anton is Professor and Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy at Eastern Washington University where he teaches orthopedics. He has degrees in physical therapy from Northwestern University and Samuel Merritt College, and a PhD in rehabilitation science with an emphasis in ergonomics from the University of Iowa. Dr. Anton was a member of the spinal manipulation task force for the Physical Therapy Association of Washington, and was part of the team of three physical therapists who were involved with formal mediation with the Washington State Chiropractic Association during the 2013-2014 legislative session. His primary research interests are work-related musculoskeletal disorders and spinal manipulation instructional methods.

Susan received her Physical Therapy degree from Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, Masters of Health Sciences at LSU Health Science Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. She completed her Doctor of Science degree at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan and graduated with her NAIOMT fellowship in orthopedic manual therapy in 2013. As a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Manual Therapy, Orthopedics and Women’s Health, she has been actively treating patients with pelvic floor, urinary, bowel, reproductive, oncology, persistent pain, sports injuries and post-surgical diagnoses.

Susan currently practices in Sewickley, Pennsylvania and is the co-owner and founder of Embody Physiotherapy and Wellness, LLC. Susan is active in teaching and research as an adjunct instructor for the University of Pittsburgh and Chatham University. Additionally, she is an international instructor and presenter of post-professional education in women’s health and orthopedic manual therapy. Her research activities include publications on chronic pelvic pain and clinical practice guidelines for the APTA Section on Women's Health and Orthopedic Section.

Susan is active with the American Physical Therapy Association, serving in governance as a local delegate, and as the Chair of the Clinical Practice Guidelines steering committee for the Section on Women’s Health. She is the past secretary on the Section on Women’s Health Board of Directors and the former President of the Performing Arts Special Interest Group of the Orthopedic Section of the APTA. She has served as an item writer for the board certification examination and is a member of the credentialing committee with ABPTRFE.

Angela T. Gordon PT, DSc, MPT, COMT, ATC, OCS, FMS has more than 15 years of clinical experience in orthopedic and sports physical therapy. She earned her Masters of Physical Therapy from Andrews University in Dayton, Ohio 2002, and her Doctorate of Science from Andrews University in Berrin Springs, Michigan 2012. Dr. Gordon earned her orthopedic manual therapist certification through NAIOMT in 2012 and is a certified athletic trainer. In 2012 Dr. Gordon received her dry needling specialist certification and in 2014 became Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist from the American Physical Therapy Association.

In April 2013 Dr. Gordon became a published author for an article in the IJSPT: Relationships between core strength, hip external rotator muscle strength, and star excursion balance test performance in female lacrosse players. Dr. Gordon’s published a book chapter “Physical Therapy considerations Following Regenerative Medicine Interventions” in September 2017 in the textbook Regenerative Treatments in Sports and Orthopedic Medicine. In February 2018, Dr. Gordon earned her fellowship from NAIOMT.

Dr. Gordon has served as the lead physical therapist for the Washington Nationals Baseball in 2005 and from 2010-2015. She works extensively with numerous professional and semi professional athletes from Major League Baseball, PGA, Canadian Football League, and European basketball players. She also works closely with many high school and collegiate overhead throwers and female athletes.

Dr. Gordon is guest faculty with NAIOMT, teaching a specialty course for rehabilitation of overhead athletes and she has been invited to speak at several annual sports medicine conferences across the country.

Dr. Gordon is the owner and creator of F. A.S.T.™ (Female Athlete Sports Training program) and is the director and coordinator for Bishop Ireton high school injury prevention programs. In 2016 Dr. Gordon co-founded a physical therapy private practice geared towards orthopedics, sports medicine and injury prevention. Advanced Kinetics Physical Therapy and Sports Performance is a highly specialized physical therapy practice dedicated helping athletes and patients restore optimal function.

Gary is a 2002 graduate from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center where he earned his Masters in Physical Therapy. He began his manual therapy training with NAIOMT in 2005, obtaining his COMT in 2010. Graduating from the NAIOMT Fellowship Program, he was recognized as a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists in 2010. His fellowship project entitled Medical Diagnosis of Cubital Tunnel Syndrome Ameliorated with Thrust Manipulation of the Elbow and Carpals was published in the Journal of Manual and Manipulative Therapy in 2012. He is currently pursuing his Doctor of Science (ScD) through Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, following the teaching tract.

Gary currently works for Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation Outpatient Services in Dallas, TX and serves as the Education Coordinator for Outpatient Therapy where he is responsible for teaching a new graduate mentorship program, curriculum development and course coordination. Gary routinely assists as a lab instructor and an orthopedic practical examiner at Texas Women’s University Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program and has been a guest lecturer at the UT Southwestern Doctorate of Physical Therapy program. Gary lives in the suburbs of Dallas with his wife and two children.

Jessica McKinney, PT, MS is co-founder of Marathon Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine, LLC and serves as Marathon’s Director of The Center for Pelvic and Women’s Health, which is dedicated to physical therapy, education and physical wellness for men, women, and girls with an emphasis on pelvic and maternal health. She is an active clinician, speaker and mentor.

Dedicated to dialogue and education of sensitive female pelvic and maternal health issues, Jessica founded the public health campaign Share MayFlowers in 2012. She has long been devoted to global maternal health, spending time in developing nations and collaborating on obstetric fistula rehabilitation programs.

Ms. McKinney graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2000 with a Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy and is presently a candidate in the Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy program at Andrews University. She is author of the chapter “Physical Therapy and Pelvic Pain” in the textbook, Pain in Women (2012, Springer Publishing). She is co-author of several papers, abstracts, and academic videos and is involved in ongoing research projects involving pelvic pain, global and domestic maternal health, and surgical ergonomics. She is a mother of three children, ages 10, 7, and 4.
